6th cruise vessel of fiscal calls at New Mangalore port - 2011-12-08

The sixth cruise vessel of the current financial year, m.v. Nautica, called at New Mangalore Port on Thursday.

A press release by Mr S. Gopalakrishna, Traffic Manager of New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT), said here that the cruise vessel m.v. Nautica with 662 passengers and 397 crew members called at NMPT on Thursday. The vessel, which came from Goa, left to Kochi in the evening.

A majority of the passengers were from the US, Canada, Germany and the UK. They opted for ground tour and visited various places in and around Mangalore.

The release said that the captain and passengers of the vessel were happy with the facilities available at the cruise lounge, and other infrastructure such as the berth and concrete roads within the port premises.

Mr Gopalakrishna said that this is the second visit for some passengers to Mangalore, and they were eager to visit again. The agent of the ship was J.M. Baxi & Co.

Quoting Mr P. Tamilvanan, NMPT Chairman, the release said that this is the fifth voyage of m.v. Nautica at NMPT in the last couple of years.

He said that five more cruise vessels are scheduled to be called at the port during December.
