Nissan begins export of Sunny from Ennore Port - 2012-02-13

Within four months of launching the Sunny, Nissan Motor India Pvt Ltd has commenced export of this mid-sized sedan from Ennore port. This is in addition to the export of the Nissan Micra from the port located about 25 km north of Chennai. On February 1, the first shipment of 3,452 units of the Sunny left the Ennore port to West Asia on the vessel Cosmos Ace. With increasing export volume, Nissan Motor India plans to export cars worth $100 million this year, according to a company sources. Manufactured at its Oragadam plant near Chennai, the Sunny will be exported to most of the locations where Nissan is already exporting the Micra. But this will be over a period of time. “We have started with the Middle East, next will be Iran and some of the African countries and then to Europe,” the official said. Till now, Nissan has exported 85,000 cars from its Oragadam plant.
In fact, in January it exported 14,403 units — a record for Nissan in a single month. The petrol variant of the Sunny was launched last September while the diesel version was launched in December.
