Three East Coast ports' chairmen posts fall vacant - 2012-04-30

The posts of chairman in at least three east coast ports have fallen vacant and the fourth vacancy is due shortly.

Kolkata port trust

Mr M.L. Meena, Chairman of Kolkata Port Trust, has been transferred to the Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance.

The post of Deputy Chairman in Kolkata Dock System (KDS) too has been lying vacant for quite some time.

Haldia dock

Mr Manish Jain, currently the Deputy Chairman-in-charge of Haldia Dock Complex (HDC), therefore, has been asked to look after the functioning of both KDS and HDC.

Mr Barun Roy, currently Managing Director, West Bengal Small Industries Development Corporation, might take over as Deputy Chairman of KDS, according to informed sources.

Paradip port

Mr G.J. Rao opted for voluntary retirement as Chairman of Paradip Port Trust and quit the port last week.

The Deputy Chairman, Mr S. Anantha Chandra Bose, is now heading the organisation.

V.O. Chidambaranar

Mr A. Subbiah , Deputy Chairman of V.O. Chidambarnar (formerly Tuticorin port), has been functioning as the acting chairman since January last year when the then Chairman, Mr G.J. Rao was transferred to Paradip port as Chairman. Mr Subbiah being a West Bengal cadre IAS officer, may be called back to the State, it is learnt.

Ennore port

The term of Mr S. Velumani, Chairman and Managing Director of Ennore Port Ltd, too is due to expire shortly, it is further learnt.
