Cabinet clears allotment of developed land to people displaced by JN Port - 2012-08-27

People who had given land for the development of the JN Port in Navi Mumbai over 25 years ago will get a share of the developed land now.

This follows a Cabinet nod to a proposal which allows persons affected by the project to get “developed land equal to 12.5 per cent of the land that was acquired from them during 1983-86”, stated a release.

It added that the Cabinet has approved a proposal to transfer 111 hectares of JN Port Trust land to the Government of Maharashtra for allotment to the PAPs (project-affected persons) of JNPT. This is in line with the State Government’s policy for those displaced by the Navi Mumbai Project that was implemented by the City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra (CIDCO).

The Cabinet nod allows JNPT to transfer to CIDCO the cost of development of minimum amenities, which will be finalised in consultation with the State Government, on the 111 hectares of land after obtaining the approval of the competent appraisal/approval authority.
